Parameters and the UTM Builder

Ostatnio zaktualizowany March 02, 2024

You can define custom parameters and UTM for each short link using the UTM Builder. These custom parameters will be added automatically to the long URL, allowing you to track the source, medium, campaign, term, and content of your traffic.

UTM tracking parameters are an essential tool for businesses to measure the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns. By using UTM parameters in your URLs, you can accurately track the source, medium, campaign, and content of your website traffic. Here's how to implement them:

1. UTM Source: Use "utm_source" in the parameter name and the specific source name in the parameter value. For example, "utm_source=Facebook" or "utm_source=GoogleAds".

2. UTM Medium: Use "utm_medium" in the parameter name and the specific marketing medium in the parameter value. For example, "utm_medium=email" or "utm_medium=social".

3. UTM Campaign: Use "utm_campaign" in the parameter name and a unique identifier for your marketing campaign in the parameter value. For example, "utm_campaign=spring_sale" or "utm_campaign=fall_promo".

4. UTM Content: Use "utm_content" in the parameter name and a descriptive name or identifier for your content variation in the parameter value. For example, "utm_content=header_banner" or "utm_content=video_ad".

To add custom parameters like UTM to a link, navigate to the "Advanced Option" and "Parameters" when shortening the link, then choose the parameter "name" and assign a "value".

Our platform also includes a dynamic parameter feature, where parameters can be automatically forwarded to the final URL. For example, if a user clicks on a short link with the parameter "affiliateid=850", it will be forwarded to the final URL as "https://veshort.com?affiliateid=850".
